About us
Who we are
Black SEN Mamas is an organisation and a support group for Black SEND mothers, empowering them as they raise children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Our understanding of the unique challenges faced by these mothers drives us to create a nurturing and supportive community. We are dedicated to providing them with the support and resources they need on their parenting journey.
While we prefer to refer to these mothers as “mothers of neurodiverse children,” we have noticed that many people still refer to these children as “SEND” (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities). Therefore, we use the term “SEND mothers” in our communications to ensure accessibility to our services and foster a welcoming environment for all mothers raising neurodiverse children.
Our approach
Our Mission
Our mission is to create a community where both parents and SEND children can find the help they need to live healthy lives.
We believe that by fostering a supportive environment and providing comprehensive resources, we can empower families to overcome challenges, promote inclusivity, and enable a brighter future for all. By providing the necessary support and tools, we aim to uplift and strengthen these families.
Our Vision
Our vision at Black SEN Mamas is to become the go-to source for information and support for Black SEND mothers worldwide.
We also aspire to build a community where every SEND mother feels supported, understood, and connected. By fostering inclusivity, breaking down barriers, and providing a platform for shared experiences, we aim to create a world where no SEND mother ever has to feel like they are alone.
